Janis Van Ahn

After working for 15 years with other Des Moines insurance agencies, Janis saw an opportunity in March 2010, to work only in the health insurance industry. Janis takes pride in educating clients and working with them on their health insurance needs. No matter if its individual, Medicare, or small group insurance, Janis has the knowledge and experience to make the most informed decisions.

Betheny Wilson

Betheny joined the Health Insurance Advisor team in September of 2019. After two years of working closely with Janis to learn the process of Medicare, Beth is now working with Medicare clients to assist in understanding Medicare and how plan options meet with needs.

Ciri Quirk

Ciri joined the Health Insurance Advisor team in May of 2025, immediately after graduating with a degree in Business Analytics and Marketing. She is ready to launch her career as an insurance advisor specializing in the under-65 market. With a data-driven mindset and a passion for helping individuals find the right coverage, she is focused on guiding clients through the complexities of health insurance. Ciri hopes to combine analytical insights with a more personal approach to deliver clear and effective solutions that meet each clients unique needs.

Zach Watson

Zach joined the Health Insurance Advisor team in March of 2025 after a strong 8 year presence in the Des Moines restaurant Industry. His prior experience helps him understand the importance of above average customer service and exceeding client expectations to create the best experience possible. Zach's drive and determination to be efficient and manage this business to success makes his role not only integral in our office, but to Janis and her clients as well! 

Brogan Freese

Brogan joined Health Insurance Advisor in August 2024, shortly after obtaining his Health & Life Insurance Licenses, and is currently assisting Betheny in the Medicare market. With his experience in customer service and coaching he understands the importance of making long-lasting and meaningful relationships with our clients. Brogan wants to ensure that maneuvering the Medicare world is as easy as possible, so our clients can have peace of mind!

Nicki Michaud

Nicki joined Health Insurance Advisor in August of 2022 after almost 10 years in retail management. Her prior experience helps her understand the importance of maintaining client relationships. Nicki provides support to our clients in the Medicare market, answering questions about coverage that may arise, assistance with claims, reviewing current coverage, etc. Nicki also specializes in Travel Medical Insurance and Dental Insurance.

Meghan Gengler

Meghan appreciates the challenges that entrepreneurs face, and the demands on their time.  She has helped her self-employed husband run his flooring installation business for 19 years and has experienced many of these challenges firsthand.  Her goal is to make the process of health insurance easy to understand and manage so that business owners can quickly get back to more important things like spending time with their families and growing their business.

Billi Gordish

Billi joined Health Insurance Advisor in June 2025 with many years of experience in both patient care and the behind-the-scenes world of health insurance. With a love for details and a heart for advocacy, Billi is dedicated to working with Meghan to make healthcare and insurance less overwhelming for small business owners and their employees—helping people feel informed, confident, and cared for every step of the way.

Lucy

​We are sad to say Lucy is no longer with Health Insurance Advisor. After 15 years with us, she crossed the rainbow bridge. We keep her here as she still is, and always will be, the true boss of Health Insurance Advisor. She will be missed, but her memories remain.
